On Manufacturing

  • How do I setup my product for manufacturing with Control Plastics & Metals?
  • • To setup your product for manufacturing, please fill out our Control Process Quote Form:

    Go to Quote Form

▣ The Form is divided into five drop-down menus (the left pink triangle signifies each menu section). When a menu is opened, fill out the white forms; note that the forms with pink border lines are Required Forms.

▣ To close a menu, just click on the triangle again. Yellow bars are option-choosing menus and are Required. Make sure to double-check all form menus. Prove that you are "not a robot", and press the "Send Form" button.

Thank you and we look forward to working with you!

▣ If you are using a browser extension / blocker, you should turn it off if the form is not working (as each browser extension / blocker may have different coding which affects the function of forms).

    • Prior to filling out the Control Process Quote form:

▣ You may want to browse our "Manufacturing Services" menu. To access this, click on the navy ☰ (griddle / burger menu icon) on the top of the white header to left (these 3-lines signify a menu or page guide). The page will slide right to reveal a dark gray menu.

▣ Click on "Manufacturing Services" (with the white gear). A cover window will appear. The Dark blue option menus below will guide you through the Control Process. To close an option-menu, simply choose "X Close Menu", and the option-choice menu will close. To go back to the main website, just click on "BACK" located in the pink header bar of the window.

    • Note: While optional, we prefer that you have a 2-D (isometric CAD) file and a 3-D (CAD) design file for your part or product prior to completing the Control Process Quote Form. This way, we are both on the same page in understanding your part or product goals prior to manufacturing.

  • How do I know if my product is ready for manufacturing?
  • • The best way to know if your part or product is ready for manuacturing on a largescale is to print a 3-D prototype. 3-D Printing is also the safest and most cost-efficient, too. Look for local three-dimensional printer labs. A great resource of local printers to test your product design and get it printed is 3-D Hubs:

    • Control Plastics & Metals does largescale manufacturing; if you are looking at only making a few parts, 3-D Printing would be the answer, too.

    • Also to analyze that your product is ready, research the market for your product. Examine the end-user, your manufacturing schedule, and what type of materials you are considering. Is this a long-term project, or just a spur of the moment activity? Consider making a checklist; the stronger you can represent your part or product, the more important your part or product will be.
  • How do you make 2-D + 3-D Files? What types do you need?
  • To make 2-D and 3-D Files, you must use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) applications (software). Check out the following CAD resources for educational links and materials:

Information / About Control Plastics

  • What is the history of Control Plastics & Metals / Control Plastics, Inc.?
  • Control Plastics started in 1978 and was located in San Carlos, California. The original company was called Odyssey Plastics, but early on was changed to Control Plastics. Control Plastics primarily made injection molding parts and components.

Further into its legacy, Control Plastics expanded to include metal services and other manufacturing processes. Following this expanision, Control Plastics became Control Plastics & Metals. With this development, we continued to add onto our manufacturing services and include full start-to-finish capabilities. Control Plastics & Metals went from being solely rooted in manufacturing, to producing packaging, decorating, and labeling as well.

Today, Control Plastics & Metals continues to expand and enhance its services, and is constantly updating its technological resources to meet manufacturing demands of the ever-changing 21st century. Control has also partnered with Taipei's major manufacturer, Pyramids Technology to further increase the manufacturing services it has to offer customers.

In early July of 2017, Control Plastics & Metals moved back to its origin city of San Carlos, CA to a location less than half a mile from its original location where Odyssey Plastics began.
